Trauma Informed Schools

In 2016, the Missouri legislators passed Senate Bill 638 which required the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to establish the Missouri Trauma Informed Schools Initiative.  DESE created a website about the Trauma Informed Schools Initiative that includes information for schools and parents regarding the trauma informed approach and a guide for schools.  The law requires that each school provides the address of the website created by DESE.  Information regarding the Trauma-Informed Schools Initiative can be found at https://motraumaschools.com.  DESE recommends the Missouri Model found on this page as the developmental framework for the Trauma-Informed Schools Initiative.
